The RCMP detachment in Kitchener is celebrating 60 years today.
Members of the Emergency Response Team, police dog service and recruiting will all be on hand to provide demonstrations.
Spokesperson for the RCMP “O” Division, Jean Turner tells 570 News Staff Sergeant Nelson Craig will be a featured guest speaker, the very first Detachment Commander in Kitchener.
“He is 94 years old now. He will be attending to give us a glimpse of what the work was like back then. He’s indicated that they dealt with moonshiners and war related crime, which has obviously changed for what we are doing now.”
The public is welcome to attend the event from 2:30-4:00pm at 17 Executive Place in Kitchener.
