NASA will turn to aerospace giant Boeing and “new space” startup SpaceX to launch U.S. astronauts again from American shores, ending a reliance on Russian Soyuz capsules that began after the last space shuttle landed on Earth three years ago.
In the U.S., electric vehicle sales are expected to hit 250,000 this month, and as of summer 2014 there were well over 6,000 plug-in cars registered in Canada. But questions still remain about how environmentally-friendly electric cars really are today. When we look at the big picture, do they actually reduce greenhouse gas pollution?
Scientists have cracked open an ancient meteorite from Mars and say they have found strong evidence that suggests Mars may have had life in its distant past. The rock that crashed onto Earth over a century ago, known as the Nakhla meteorite, has been identified by previous studies as having come from the Red Planet and has been dated at 1.3 billion years old. The research team discovered that deeply embedded within the rock are what looks like egg-shaped, ‘cell-like’ structures that are believed to have once held water.
