Local help lines for those struggling with depression

In the aftermath of Robin Williams’ tragic death, a local suicide prevention advocate says we need to come together as a community to support those in need.

The executive director of Waterloo Region’s Suicide Prevention Council, Tana Nash, says a high profile case like Williams’ death underscores the fact that nobody is immune from depression.

“It can tackle those of us that are well-known, those of us that are wealthy, it can tackle any age, any sex, and that’s why it really is a community issue, and it takes all of us doing our part,” says Nash.

For those in Waterloo Region struggling with depression or at risk of suicide, there are services and help available.
