Despite having being named to Richard Nixon’s so-called “Enemies List.” A leading American journalist says Nixon did the right thing in resigning the presidency 40 years ago today.
Former CBS News Diplomatic Affairs Correspondent Marvin Kalb tells 570 News Nixon was thinking of what was best for the american people.
“He figured that resignation was better for the country and I take my hat off for him for making that decision rather than the decision of impeachment.”
Millions watched on the evening of August 8th, the night before the resignation when Nixon addressed the nation saying he would “resign the presidency, effective at noon tomorrow.”
