Long weekend could see showers

Following a brutal winter, this summer has been compared to the one of 2009 — ‘the non-existent summer.’
According to Weather Network Meteorologist, Dayna Vettese, we’ve seen below normal temperatures so far, especially in July: “We actually haven’t seen any temperatures above 30 [degrees] at Pearson airport at all in July. That being said, the daytime temperatures aren’t too bad…we’re at our seasonal 24, 25, 26.”
While this long weekend won’t be hot and humid, temperatures are expected to warm up.
We’ll also have the risk of an isolated shower or thunderstorm, although Vettese says it won’t be a “wash out.”
Meantime, Corrine Taylor, founder of Bucket List Travel, says the harsh winter saw people booking multiple trips.
“At the end of March, beginning of April, they were calling back again going, you know, ‘get me out of here’ and booking a second holiday, which is not normal,” says Taylor. “And then other people who have never gone south before, or in numerous years were like you know what, I don’t care, I’m sick of the snow.”
She adds that Costa Rica and California are good destinations to go to in the summer or fall.
