Summer lights festival is here

Toronto has Nuit Blanche and now the region has the Summer Lights Festival.

Discover. Explore. Ignite the night is the theme of the first annual festival that starts tonight at 9 pm.

Bill Poole with the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery tells 570 News why they chose tonight for the festivities.

“The summer solstice is a wonderful time to do it because its such a lovely and optimistic time of the year. Its the longest day of the year, the kids are almost out of school and people are preparing for their vacation. The momentum started to grow and many organizations started to get involved, as well as many restaurants and performers.”

There will be over 200 participating artists, groups, and organizations in eight hubs across Kitchener and Waterloo.

Getting from one event to another can be done via a “hop-on/hop-off” Luxe Bus, which runs throughout the evening.
