Getting more youth to vote

The Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance has a message for youth ahead of the upcoming provincial election.
The Alliance has launched a new video to encourage more youth to vote, called “If You’re Not At The Table, You’re On The Menu.”
It’s estimated that only 35 percent of youth voted in 2011’s provincial election.
But President Jen Carter of the Undergraduate Student Alliance says youth aren’t the only ones turning out in low numbers to vote.
“In the 2011 election there was a 49.2% voter turn out across the board and that’s been a historical low…so I think that speaks to a systemic issue that we need to work on as a society and not just focus on one group.”
The message is part of the O-U-S-A’s “It’s Your Vote” campaign.
