10:00am- Jane Mitchell, Regional Councillor representing Waterloo, Re: Just because Waterloo city councillors have approved a commercial development plan that would bring a Costco to the city it doesn’t mean construction will start soon. Some of the conditions attached to the project involve the Regional level of government and Mitchell says the timetable for getting the traffic study and any necessary roadwork done could mean the project wouldn’t start until 2020.
10:30am- Jack Gibbons, Chair of the Ontario Clean Air Alliance, Re: A new Oraclepoll Research opinion poll finds Ontarians overwhelmingly support importing low-cost water power from Quebec. In fact, a large majority would prefer to import water power rather than re-build the Darlington Nuclear Station, even if power from Quebec costs the same as power from those re-built reactors. The poll found that close to 80% of Ontarians are in favour of tapping into Quebec power imports.
