The new owners of the Frederick Twin Cinemas in Kitchener are putting their touches on the theatre.
Imagine Cinemas has taken ownership of the theatre in the Frederick Street Mall.
The theatre is considered a gem by many in the community, offering family friendly movies at a cheaper price than its big name competitors.
General Manger Ginna Facca says they want to keep their family customer base while providing a discounted price but ticket prices will rise slightly, between 50 cents and $1.
Currently the theatre is closed for renovations including upgrades for digital picture and sound. Facca says it provides a better experience then a movie on 35mm and many companies are moving away from that format altogether.
New seats are also on the way and they are right out of Hollywood. The company bought them from Grauman’s Chinese Theatre after that iconic movie house decided to switch their format and do renovations of their own.
Facca says they want to be open by April 11th, just in time for the next big family movie, Rio 2.
