10:00am- Gary Goodyear, MP for Cambridge- North Dumfries and Minister of State for Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, Re: Last week, the Harper Conservatives introduced a Bill in Parliament to amend the Canada Elections Act. Titled the “Fair Elections Act” it implies there is an effort to fix and correct some problems in order to protect the integrity of our electoral system. However, some are saying it is not fair at all and is an attempt to provide an advantage to the Conservatives in the upcoming 2015 federal election and it is as an attack on the independence of Elections Canada.
10:30am- Bill Curry, Parliamentary Reporter at the Globe and Mail, Re: Federal public servants will move toward a 50-50 cost-sharing arrangement for the Public Service Health Care Plan under a deal announced yesterday by Treasury Board President Tony Clement, who had threatened in February to implement the arrangement through legislation if unions failed to sign on. said the deal was negotiated in good faith with public sector unions. The savings are roughly $700-million less over six years than the $7.4-billion that was listed in the 2014 budget.
