Seniors’ concerns voiced during Grand River Transit talk

Grand River Transit is well aware of the concerns from seniors regarding bus route changes at Saint Lukes Place in Cambridge.
The iExpress 203 will replace current route 71 on weekdays, and will travel up Franklin to Maple Grove then into Kitchener.
On weekends, those seniors will be riding the 51c to leave Saint Lukes.
Resident Ann Scottfield doesn’t predict a smooth transition.
“When you get the system down-pat, we need big, big, big, big maps posted in all the buildings.”
She doesn’t see why seniors weren’t consulted about these changes.
Grand River Transit Acting Director of Tranportation Planning, John Cicuttin, says it was a time constraint.
“Typically we have two consultations for any major service change. At this point we were able just to reach out to peolpe with a questionairre.”
Rides on Friday’s will be free until the end of August to help the adjustment, and GRT hopes to have more shelters and safer stops.
This change starts April 28.
