Tyke team gets to practice with the Rangers

Kitchener Rangers head coach Troy Smith had some extra traffic on the ice for practice Sunday morning.
The Port Perry Tyke 7 Predators were put through the paces after being selected for the Subway Canada Training Day Contest.
Here is the team’s entry that got them selected:
“Thank-you for accepting our entry into the training day contest. We are a small town seven year old team from Port Perry. We play against towns 10 times our size and know our players have to be their best to compete. But wins and losses are not what our team is about. We teach these young kinds how to be athletes which includes proper nutrition. We tell them they’re like a car putting bad fuel in will make it run slower. So instead of pizza parties we have Subway Sandwich parties. Our team would be honoured if selected for the training day contest and would love to be apart of any promotion to help the cause of great nutrition.”
The team is coached by Rick Smith (head coach), who attended Notre Dame for four years playing soccer, and rugby along with hockey, winning the provincial title in his final year, and assistant coaches Craig Smith, Steve Laird and Mike Ropitzky.
