Seven programs in the top 100 across the globe. That’s what the University of Waterloo can claim following the release of a new study.
The rankings, published by UK firm QS, put U-W 24th in the world for its work in Computer Science and in Mathematics.
Those areas of study continue to gain more attention as this is the fourth consecutive year that Computer Science has risen in the international classification and the third year that Mathematics has risen.
University of Waterloo President Feridun Hamdullahpur says those are the type of numbers the academic world has come to expect from the school and he wants to see the rankings go even higher in the future.
Also getting noticed is the school’s Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geography, Environmental Sciences and Statistics and Operational Research programs. They were ranked in the top 100.
Hamdullahpur adds these ranking are important in establishing international partnerships.
QS ranks almost 700 universities across the globe in 30 disciplines.
The University of Waterloo is listed amongst the top 200 universities globally for 19 of the 30 subjects evaluated.
