11:00am- Tim Hudak, Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, Re: Hudak has announced the “Million Jobs Act”, that he will table when the Legislature resumes in mid-February, to put Ontario back on the right track. He says “If passed, the legislation will immediately begin its task of creating jobs.” The proposed Million Jobs Act is designed to immediately produce more jobs and increase take-home pay through lower taxes and less debt and End the bureaucratic runaround that inhibits job creation.
11:30am- Charles Lammam, Resident Scholar in Economic Policy for the Fraser Institute, Re: As more Canadian municipalities consider adopting so-called living wage laws, a new report published today by the Fraser Institute, concludes these laws can actually hurt low-paid workers. The report called “The Economic Effects of Living Wage Laws”, reviews scholarly research on living wage laws in the United States, where more than 140 municipalities have the legislation, and spotlights the effects on employment, wages and poverty.
