Cambridge draft budget released

The Cambridge 2014 budget is available for review online, and ready for public input.
Mayor Doug Craig says there is a projected $18 tax rate increase per household, to help pay for a number of initiatives.
“Putting money into roads, sidewalks, children’s programs, neighbourhood associations – all of those things are now included. These are the increases that we’re looking at. And on top of that, of course, are the increases in salaries to our various contract groups that are employed by the City of Cambridge.”
Once water and wastewater is included, the average household can expect to pay another 62-dollars this year.
The 1.48% increase is the lowest increase in the last 5 years, and is the highest in the region by a very slim percent.
The budget is available for the public to view on their website, cambridge.ca.
Delegations begin Tuesday night.
