Pothole repairs begin in Waterloo Region

Melting snow has revealed many potholes across the region, with city crews working hard to repair the dips and cracks.
City of Waterloo Deputy Commissioner of Integrated Planning and Public Works Bill Garibaldi says the risk of damaging your vehicle when hitting a pothole is slim.
“The good thing now is those potholes are less and less, the way we maintain roads and also the way that they’re built – there’s less and less very damaging potholes that get created.”
Garibaldi says if you feel the city is responsible you are able to submit a claim.
If a pothole is spotted, contact the city where you found the trouble spot.
Information needed when reporting a pot hole include the street it’s on, which lane it’s in, any address or any building it’s in front of, and any cross streets.
If you hit a pothole, and your vehicle is not operating properly, you’re asked to not drive it until the problems are fixed.
Also, record the exact location of the pothole, have your vehicle inspected by a licensed mechanic, and contact your insurance company to see if you’re covered for the damage.
