Trust fund set up for Reiner family

A trust fund has been set up for the family of Robbie Reiner, the 5 year-old New Hamburg boy that went missing a day after Christmas.

Donations to the trust fund can be made at any TD Canada Trust location to account 6343610, reference branch number 0244.

Area residents have been tying blue ribbons around trees and have put them on their homes in support of the Reiner family.

The boy’s father tells the Record, “support from the community has been a great help.”

Robbie went missing on December 26th, 2013 after leaving his family’s home without a jacket. Foot prints were later found in the snow leading to a hole in the ice on the Nith River.

A search and rescue effort was mounted and dive teams scoured the banks and waters of the river looking for Robbie, but no sign of the boy was found.

The recovery operation was called off on Monday December 30, 2013 after five days of searching.
