Three teams bid for LRT contract with Waterloo Region

Three teams have submitted their bids for Waterloo Region’s 536-million dollar light rail transit project, Ion.
Waterloo Region’s Commissioner of Transportation and Environmental Services, Thomas Schmidt, says the next step is reviewing the proposals, with on going evaluations throughout January.
Once that is done, each proposal will be scored and a preferred team will be proposed by staff to council hopefully in March.
The three teams in the running at GrandLinq, Tricity Transit System, and Kitchener Waterloo Cambridge Transit Partners.
