The snow is on its way and the Region is certainly ready.
In the City of Kitchener, 15 salt trucks and 32 snowplows are being checked.
Operations Manager for the City of Kitchener Scott Berry tells 570 News what they do once they hear reports of snowfall coming our way.
“We subscribe to a commercial weather forecast and monitor that several times a day. We’ve been doing a plow hookup which is attaching all the plows to the trucks and ensure any defects are addressed prior to the actual arrival of the weather.”
Berry adds it takes between 16 and 24 hours to complete all snowplowing routes after the snow has stopped falling.
All areas in the Region remind residents to avoid parking on the streets and stay out of the way of the plow drivers.
Berry says it’s important to remember that “those are big pieces of equipment our drivers are running…try to let them do their work and stay clear of them when possible.”
