The Guelph Storm have pulled the trigger on an OHL mega-deal.
The Storm have sent 18-year old forward Brody Milne and nine draft picks to the Windsor Spitfires in exchange for forward Kerby Rychel and defenceman Nick Ebert.
Rychel is the son of Spits GM — and former NHL’er — Warren Rychel and was a first round draft pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets last spring.
Ebert, a New Jersey native, was selected by the LA Kings in the 7th round of the 2012 NHL draft.
Guelph is sending five second round draft picks (2014, ’15, ’16, ’17, ’18), one third (2016), two fourths (2014 and 2015) and a 15th rounder, conditional on if Ebert returns for an OA season next year.
Milne has 8 goals and 7 assists in 28 games with the Storm this season.
Rychel has 16 goals and 23 assists for 39 points in 27 games with the Spits this season.
Ebert has 4 goals and 16 assists for 20 points this season and is a plus-27 in 27 games.
