Ottawa area in for major storm

They’re battening down the hatches in Ottawa and much of eastern Ontario, as a major winter storm roars up from the U-S.

Our nation’s capital, which is under a snowfall warning, could get up to 25 centimetres of snow today.

A special weather statement is also in effect all the way from Niagara, through the GTA and eastward.

Toronto is not expecting that much snow, but it could be a messy commute in the GTA later this morning.

As for Waterloo Region, 570 News weather specialist John Wilson expects we will get off lucky. He’s only calling for flurries today.

Meantime, the OPP are sending out reminders about safe winter driving.
Be sure to go slow in poor conditions, and expect the unexpected.
