125 news jobs are on their way to Cambridge.
Currently, the city employs 8,450 in the retail sector with 750 retail establishments already in business.
As of Thursday morning, one more store is on list.
Quebec based SAIL will be building a superstore in the Tri-City Centre in the Hespeler area.
Cambridge Mayor Doug Craig tells 570 News this will trigger the development of even more retail businesses in the area.
“It’s going to be an anchor store essentially for new development in that mall. We’re going to see other stores coming in and there are going to be more announcements in the near future.”
The Canadian outdoors superstore will feature items such as tents, boats, snowshoes, fishing rods, and boots.
Craig says a store like this is great news for Cambridge.
“A store like SAIL has a great impact on the community and it has a great impact in terms of credibility for the community. So we will see other stores, we will see other jobs…this is going to be very positive for everybody.”
Craig expects the store to be open in November next year. Construction is expected to being in the coming days.
