Senate to hold rare Friday session

There’s no end in sight to the debate over the Harper government’s bid to suspend three former Conservative senators without pay.
The debate over the future of Mike Duffy, Pamela Wallin and Patrick Brazeau has dragged on for three days.
And, the upper chamber is scheduled to resume debate today, even though it does not normally sit on Friday.
The debate got personal yesterday with a war of words between Duffy and Marjory LeBreton, the former government leader in the Senate.
LeBreton issued a stinging rebuttal of Duffy’s accusation that she was part of a conspiracy into persuading him to accept a secret deal to pay back ineligible expenses.
She says it’s a blatant falsehood that is “utterly preposterous.”
LeBreton also says she was never a fan of Duffy when he was a television personality.
Duffy and Brazeau, along with former Liberal senator Mac Harb, are under investigation by the RC-M-P for allegedly fraudulently claiming Senate housing allowances and living expenses.
