What’s on tap at council tonight

Some changes are on the way when it comes to how Kitchener city council puts together its budget.
There are two new items added to this year’s process: a list of ideas to generate revenue and then a short list of strategic initiatives that have not been able to be funded in previous years, but could be in 2014.
This afternoon, staff will present the timeline for the Margaret Avenue bridge reconstruction and the plans to improve pedestrian and cycling traffic.
Then tonight, councillors also get updates on the Victoria Park washrooms and the Strasburg Road extension project.
Waterloo city councillors will be looking at a number of issues, including a recommendation to hike parking rates by 10-percent, an update on the 2014 budget process and they’ll get the final bill for the clean up costs from the April ice storm and the July wind storm: $300,000.
In Cambridge tonight, council is expected to vote on an updated animal control bylaw to broaden it beyond what it covers right now.
