Despite looming layoffs, BlackBerry is hiring

Despite Friday’s layoff announcement at Blackberry, the company is hiring.

The Waterloo based company announced 45-hundred layoffs, but according to their website, Blackberry is looking to fill 35 positions.

Seven of the positions are for Blackberry’s headquarters in Waterloo. Among the positions available are a Senior PR and Social Media Manager and Web Developer.

Toronto based Fairfax financial made a bid to buy the company on Monday at a cost of about $4.7 billion. Blackberry has until November 4th to solicit and evaluate rival offers.
