Thousands of people took to the streets in communities across Canada yesterday for the annual Terry Fox run in support of cancer research.
In Waterloo Region, there were several events including in Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge.
One of those involved, Gerry Kurtz of Ariss, was stunned when he received a call from Terry’s brother Fred, who called to congratulate him for all he’s done for this year’s run and to wish him well.
Kurtz said it was very inspiring.
Kurtz himself has a rare form of cancer, but says the ongoing treatment he has received has helped him get back to a normal life.
The money raised from yesterday’s runs is not yet available.
