Airport exploring new flight path

The Region of Waterloo International Airport wants to let some residents know the sky could become a little noisier.

The airport has sent out a letter to some Cambridge residents in the Blair Road area by the new Conestoga Campus.

They are gathering information to present to Transport Canada, regarding a new flight path for some of its aircraft.

General Manager of the airport Chris Wood, tells 570 News the new path would mean the planes would fly higher and over fewer homes.

Those homes would be in the area of the 401 just east of the Homer Watson exit.

Woods says only half the flights from runway 26 would use this way as the other half would take off in the direction of Guelph.

An information session will be held on September 24th from 6-8pm at the airport terminal.

Transport Canada will make the final decision.
