The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario has ruled that a Kitchener restaurant has contravened two sections of the Liquor License Act.
Moose Winooski’s in Kitchener’s Sportsworld area is said to have permitted drunkenness and allowed practice which encourages over consumption of alcohol.
This ruling came from an incident that took place at the bar on November 23, 2007 where two costumers drank several pitchers of beer and later got in a serious accident when leaving the bar.
Although staff encouraged the customers not to drive and offered to call them a cab, Katherine Walpole and Kevin Block continued to drive away.
The accident resulted in Block’s death and sent Walpole to prison for 30 months.
Moose Winooski’s has 10 days to appeal the commission’s decision. They could face a 45 day liquor license suspension.
