The provincial budget will be released this afternoon and one of the items on it may interest drivers.
Finance Minister Charles Sousa claims the new budget will work to drop auto insurance premiums by 15 per cent on average.
Sousa claims the driving force behind bringing down these rates is fighting insurance fraud in the province. The insurance industry says fraud is the number one factor behind high rates.
Tammy Ezer works with InsuranceHotline.com and tells 570’s Jeff Allan Show, this is a key step to take but will take time.
She adds these changes will only benefit those with safe driving records and may bring up rates for those who don’t have a clean record.
Overall, Sousa says he anticipates that the measures will reduce the average annual premium per vehicle by 225 dollars for all drivers.
