Woolwich and Wellesley Township have both ended their states of emergency.
Residents in both townships are dodging falling ice and tree branches.
The freezing rain storm left tree branches heavy, bending over and snapping or uprooting.
The ice also weighed down numerous power lines, and the debris was strewn across many lawns and roads, forcing closures.
The clean-up after the storm will continue into the night.
Fire Chief Andrew Lillico tells 570 News they are working with the Region of Waterloo and Emergency Management Ontario.
Lillico says regional EMS have not responded to any calls for injuries in the township due to the storm.
He reminds residents to be careful if using candles during the power outage.
Lillico also says to take a look at what appliances are still on, so as to avoid any problems or fires when power is restored.
While residents wait for the lights to come back on, Mayor Ross Kelterborn says the Linwood Community Centre has been set up as a temporary warming centre.
“There will be drinking water, food, and cots to sleep.”
Woolwich Township also set up a warming centre at Woolwich Memorial Arena in Elmira.
