Changes on the way to make King & University safer for pedestrians

Changes are coming to the King and University intersection in Waterloo aimed at making it safer for pedestrians.

Over a five year period, beginning in September 2007, there were a dozen vehicle/pedestrian collisions in or near that intersection.

This morning’s Record reports, the region plans to improve lighting, intersection, install pedestrian countdown signals and put in place new offset crosswalks: crosswalks that are moved further away from the corners.

The changes are expected to cost about $77,000.
