Guelph may scrap free parking in downtown

The days of free parking in downtown Guelph could be numbered.

The city is considering doing away with the current free two-hour parking policy.

Some downtown merchants are not happy, warning it could drive shoppers away to shopping centres.

A study on the various parking options is expected to go before council in May.

In the meantime, a public meeting on the issue is slated for tonight at Guelph City Hall, starting at 6.
