2:30pm – North Korea defies world with 3rd nuclear test
North Korea threatened to conduct a third nuclear test and it did so today, a move that is considered dangerous by international leaders and puts the spotlight on China to see how it handles the defiant act.
The test was North Korea’s first since young leader Kim Jong Un took power after his father’s death.
Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird has said Canada will work with other nations to pursue “all appropriate actions and sanctions against the rogue regime in North Korea.” The test raises concerns that North Korea is another step closer to producing a warhead that could be fitted to a long-range missile.
