Getting Ready for Valentine’s Day

For some, it’s an important day to show their love.
But there is less than 24 hours if you’ve forgotten about Valentine’s Day.
Some people in downtown Kitchener say Valentine’s Day isn’t that big of a deal.
One woman tells 570 News it’s just a made up day that doesn’t recognize the fact that there are more single people than there are couples.
Another man says it’s just a day like any other.
But others say they’ve been preparing for a while, with one couple planning to spread out their Valentine’s Day plans over several days.
One woman admits it’s a commercial holiday, but she says it’s a nice reminder for her family to tell each other how much they love each other.
She adds it wasn’t as important a day to her before she had children.
Now she spends every Valentine’s Day having a fondue dinner at home with her husband and kids.
A single mom says she will also spend February 14th with her two kids.
You might be picking up roses or a box of chocolates for your sweetheart, but some couples are taking a big plunge on Valentine’s Day.
Pat Fretwell, owner/operator of the wedding chapels at Kitchener City Hall, says there are about four weddings planned.
She says one couple is even renewing their vows because Valentine’s Day is a romantic and important day for them.
Some of the most popular Valentine’s Day plans include going out for dinner, or staying in for a home-cooked meal, to just spending time with each other.
