Waterloo Region under special weather statement

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Southern Ontario.

The statement, which covers Waterloo Region, says a low pressure system is intensifying over Texas and is forecast to track northeastward to pass south of the great lakes region late Wednesday into Thursday.

Environment Canada says such a storm track would place this part of the province on the cold side of the storm, with the potential for significant snowfall accumulations.

Along with the snow fall, gusty northeast winds would result in local blowing snow, reducing visibilities.

Both Environment Canada and 570’s Weather Specialist John Wilson say we could see up to 15 cm of snow.
