2pm LRT A critic of the region’s rapid transit project spoke to Regional Councillors saying LRT will increase congestion at some intersections…there are 30 intersections that will have LRT tracks going through them. Cross town traffic will be impeded. The region’s chief administrative officer says those concerns have been addressed. Have they? The recommendation is 1 of 108 recommendations to transform Ontario’s $8.3 billion welfare system into a simpler more effective systems. “If this report is implemented as a whole, it could make a real improvement in moving toward reducing poverty,” said Greg deGroot-Maggetti, a poverty program co-ordinator at the Kitchener office of the Mennonite Central Committee.
