Get off the couch, away from the computer and start stretching those muscles!
That’s the message researchers are giving to young people, following a study which found one third of people between the ages of 16 and 24 are suffering from back pain.
Research firm Mintel found 34 per cent of young people experience back pain. Meanwhile, in the over-65 group, 38 per cent of respondents said they suffer from back pain.
The researchers said they are surprised by the high incidence of back issues with young people and how similar the numbers are to the senior group.
They believe this is because too many youngsters are leading sedentary lifestyles, with many hours spent in front of the television or computer.
Meanwhile, the study also found 62 per cent of women suffer from headaches, compared to just 42 per cent of men.
