Rangers add to coaching staff

The Kitchener Rangers added to their coaching staff on Thursday morning.
Mike McKenzie joins the team as an assistant after impressing the Rangers during their May Rookie Camp.
McKenzie just finished his pro playing career with the AHL’s Houston Aeros, prior to that he spent four seasons playing NCAA hockey with the St. Lawrence University
Saints in Canton, New York.
Rangers General Manager and Head Coach, Steve Spott tells 570 News the rest of the coaching staff remains in place.
“It’s a great place to start my coaching career, and I’m really excited about it.” McKenzie said in an interview with 570 News on Thursday afternoon.
“Such a storied franchise (Rangers), if you look at all the players they’ve put in the NHL.”
Spott says McKenzie will also be able to talk to American-born players about the NCAA and OHL, which will assist in recruitment.
McKenzie is the son of TV hockey analyst, Bob McKenzie.
