Missing Guelph man found dead

Police say 71-year-old William Mitchell has been found dead.

He had been missing from a residence on Terra View Crescent in Guelph’s Preservation Park area since Wednesday evening.

His body was found around 11 a.m. Thursday, following an exhaustive search which, according to Guelph Police Sergeant Doug Pflug, included Guelph Police, Waterloo Regional Police, the Guelph Fire Department and an OPP helicopter. “We were all throwing as many resources as we could with hopes of closing this investigation in a nice way,” Pflug says. “Unfortunately Mr. Mitchell was deceased when we found him.”

Pflug says it’s still too early to speculate on the cause of death but the coroners office had been called in. Mitchell suffered from health issues including Parkinson’s disease and a heart condition.
