Some cargo flights to and from Hamilton Airport are getting the blame for a loud wake-up call over parts of the region this morning.
Chris Wood, General Manager of the Region of Waterloo International Airport, says they’ve been getting some calls about noisy planes lately. “It looks like there’s some cargo activity happening in the early mornings and they seem to be flying over top of the Kitchener-Waterloo area,” he explains. “There were five flights early this morning.”
Wood says the planes were over our area between 3:40 a.m. and about 5:40 a.m., on route from Vancouver, Winnipeg and Calgary.
He says the planes are flying at a fairly high altitude of about ten thousand feet but, “unfortunately they are older, noisier airplanes; Boeing 727s.”
Wood says they are looking into the issue. He says they’ve been investigating with Transport Canada, NAV Canada and Hamilton Airport Officials.
