Roundabout Changes

Regional councillors have voted to remove one lane from the Homer Watson/Block Line Road roundabout.

North Dumfries Mayor Rob Deutschmann was one of those in support of changing the roundabout from three lanes to two, telling the Record “The drivers of Kitchener-Waterloo are more used to a two-lane roundabout.”
Others argued it is overdesigned with the extra lane.

However, regional planners say the roundabout was built with future capacity in mind.
Those in support of three lanes maintain it has reduced collisions and motorists are starting to get the hang of it.

Removing the lane and installing curbs will cost $150,000.
