Victoria Park construction update

If you’ve been down to Kitchener’s Victoria Park any time in the last few months, you’ll no doubt have noticed the fenced off lake, and all the lake dredging and construction work.
Melissa Ryan, Design and Construction project manager, told 570 News work is moving along on schedule, with few challenges, “just the thaw and freeze, things like our access areas, which would normally be frozen, go through a thaw/freeze cycle, so trucks might get stuck in them, that type of thing.”
Ryan said she really appreciates all the community support, saying the increased traffic, noise and the occasional odour has been short term pain, for long term gain, “we really appreciate people being patient with us, because what we really feel is that the end product is going to look really great, and the idea is that we aren’t doing this every 10 to 15 years, the idea is that we’re doing it every 50 to 75.”
Ryan said the main construction work is on course to wrap up for spring, and the restoration to the plants and grass disturbed in the project to be finished by June.
