Canada’s game will be taking over centre ice at THEMUSEUM in Kitchener for the next three months.
“Arena – The Hockey Exhibition” opens today and runs until May 6th.
It features the history, art and science behind hockey.
There really is something for everyone.
The Kitchener Rangers are featured in a display with the team set to celebrate their 50th season next year.
You can view Andy Warhol’s “Wayne Gretzky #99”, which is on loan from the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.
There are also some interactive exhibits where after viewing the goalie mask exhibit you can take a puck in the face.
You are behind two panes of plexiglass with the puck sailing towards you at 100 kilometres an hour.
“Some local and private collectors have some things that are seldom or rarely seen.” said David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM.
THEMUSEUM also has the official certificate that put the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League.
“Again, this is something you can’t see in the Hockey Hall of Fame.” added Marskell.
