Boil-water advisory

Kitchener Utilities has issued a boil-water advisory for Valleyview Road, in the Ottawa and Fischer-Hallman area.
It’s after a watermain break with potential contamination from a collapsed sanitary sewer line.
They say crews turned off the water while the break was being repaired so the 310 residents affected did not receive the potentially contaminated water.
They’ll be conducting tests over the next couple of days and if the water is safe, they expect the advisory to be lifted late Friday afternoon.
Residents are being told boil their tap water for at least one minute before using it for:
-Drinking
-Gargling, brushing your teeth or rinsing dentures
-Washing fruits, vegetables and other food
-Making ice, juices, puddings or other mixes
-Making baby food or formula
The city says adults, teens and older children can use unboiled water for baths and showers and small children can be given sponge-baths instead of tub baths or showers. They say to avoid swallowing any water used for showers and baths.
