Richest Canadians

A new report says the richest of the rich have gained more ground in Canada, and are now making 189 times the average Canadian wage.
The report is by Hugh Mackenzie at the left-leaning Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.
He pulled figures from the circulars of companies listed on the S&P and the TSX composite index to find out how much the 100 highest paid exec’s were getting.
They pocketed $8.38 million in 2010, compared to the average worker’s yearly earnings of $44,366 — a growing inequality that he says can’t last.
Mackenzie says there’s a growing consensus that taxation is probably the best way to deal with mounting inequality, rather than regulation.
