RIM takeover?

Takeover talk has been swirling around Waterloo’s Research In Motion for some time but word came Tuesday that one company may have come very close to making an offer.

Amazon.com reportedly hired an investment bank this summer to review a potential merger with RIM. It’s not clear if there were any talks between the two companies. A story from Reuters says RIM turned down the takeover proposal, citing “people with knowledge of the situation.”

A source also says the sale of the Blackberry maker is not in the cards right now and RIM wants to fix its’ own problems.
