Toy donation to Salvation Army

A generous offering by the Canadian Tire on Ottawa Street South in Kitchener is ensuring no child goes without this Christmas.

Staff members from 570 News and Kix 106.7 were given a budget to spend $2,000 on toys for children and they didn’t disappoint.

Store owner Paul Pollock has done this for several years now.

Toys flew off the shelves and are all going to the Salvation Army and volunteer Bob Dockeray was on hand to collect the goodies, “It’s just awesome, it just thrills us to be able to distribute the toys that you get for us. We couldn’t give them out if you didn’t get them.”  Dockeray adds, “We serve about 6,000 kids over the Christmas season. It’s just great, it’s really rewarding, it’s not a job, that’s for sure.”

Unfortunately Pollock was out of town, but Sheila Nelson was on hand to help ring in the toys, “It’s awesome. Everyone is in great spirits. It puts everyone, including the store staff in an awesome mood. It’s great to be able to give back.”
