ZOOM Career Days

About 200 grade 11 and 12 high school students from across the region have been packed into Bingemans for today’s ZOOM Career Day.
This one is focused on Manufacturing, Construction and Transportation and allows kids to talk with industry professionals in those areas.
Executive Director of the Business and Education Partnership Alayne Hynes tells 570 News there are 3 more sessions planned, “in February we have hospitality and Tourism, in April we have Information and Communication Technology and in May we have a specialized ZOOM into the Workplace, for students who plan to go straight into the workforce after graduation.”
ZOOM Career Days is an opportunity for students to learn in depth about a specific sector, “we’ve tried to provide a lot of opportunities for kids to interact with professionals in those industries,” said Hynes.
Representing the Manufacturing sector is Conestoga College Food Processing, Onward Manufacturing and Teledyne Dalsa.
Representing Transportation, Region of Waterloo International Airport, Great Lakes Helicopter Flight Training College, the Ontario Trucking Association and Toromont CAT.
In the realm of Construction, on hand are the Grand Valley Construction Association and Gosen Electric.
Hynes said, “we’re very pleased that so many companies have come on board to sponsor, like Rogers Kitchener Radio Group is doing. So thank you to so many companies for stepping forward and sponsoring this event.”
This is the second year ZOOM Career Days have been running.
