Great Lakes Helicopter has been around since 2004 and operates out of the Region of Waterloo International Airport.
The company offers both flight training and chartered flights and owns a number of different copters, including 3 of the Robinson R-22’s, which was the model of chopper that crashed on Monday morning.
On it’s website, Great Lakes says R-22 is the worlds most popular training chopper.
The two-seater is used not only for flight training but also commercial and private use.
Great Lakes Helicopter is a Transport Canada approved flight school.
The company also owns a Bell 206 Jet Ranger helicopter and a Robinson R-44 and operates a satalite flight training school out of Toronto’s Downsview Airport.
There’s been no word from the company on the crash.
