Hwy 7/8 eastbound re-opened

Highway 7/8 eastbound has been re-opened at Trussler Road around 1:00 this afternoon, after an investigation into a crash between an SUV and transport truck that happened around 7:15 this morning.
The driver of the SUV, a 30 year old Kitchener woman was taken to Grand River Hospital with life threatening injuries. She has since been airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital.
OPP Sergeant John Mraud believes weather may have played a factor in the crash, “She (the driver of the SUV) was coming off the ramp onto 7/8, the transport truck was proceeding along 7/8 and for reasons that we don’t know for sure, she lost control of her vehicle and then subsequently struck the tractor trailer where they both went off the road.”
The child inside the SUV and the driver of the transport were not injured.
